The concept behind the Wikimedia Free Textbook Project
is to create anonline database of textbooks that range from
kindergarten up to thecollege level and are free to use or
distribute.

The goal is for anyone to have easier access to various
types of textbooksand for people to use, edit or modify
the texts as they please. Theproject is relatively new,
with a little more than 11,000 submissions sofar.

Regarding Breast Cancer

This is a brief list of links to web based
bibliographies as well associations to articles
that contain bibliographies regarding
breast cancer.These bibliographies focus
on breast cancer in terms of issues like
adherance to regimen, the use of models
and theory in the treatment of cancer,
and types of interventions along with
some other issues.This bibliography was
made possible and greatly improved with the
collaboration of Marianna Diloyan, a graduate
student and teachingassistant in the Public Health
graduate program at Temple University.
Marianna is deeply interested in a holistic and
nutritional approach tothe treatment of
breast cancer and is concerned that there is
some majoroveruse and danger in the
chemical treatments of breast and other cancers.

This collection of bibliography bearing articles
and web sources may be found at this URL in the
Net-Gold discussion group archives.

Getting the Library Back Into Undergraduate Research:
The Library Prize for Undergraduate

Many undergraduate students do not get pertinent or substantial
training in the use of library research resources and databases in
their elementary secondary school education so that upon
matriculation in a college, they lack knowledge of how to use
databases, online catalogs, reference tools and so forth.
The teaching of research methods to students at the college
undergraduate level is frequently quite limited, as well.
Proactive programs in academic libraries that get students to
conduct research projects and utilize library resources as a core
resource for these research efforts are important stimuli for
developing a college environment that emphasizes the need for
undergraduates to learn researchskills so as to better prepare
themselves for graduate school and researchoriented careers.
