How to Post Effectively on Net-Gold: Some Suggestions NOT Rules
[Copyright Adherence is a RULE]
Sending full articles without permission will get posters on moderation
There are no rules, my way of posting is not required of others, but Imust insist on no full length articles without permission or that they arecoming from the United States Government websites as United States federalgovernment publications are not protected by copyright and their publications web URL roots end in .gov or .mil (.) For this I put people on moderation for and clean up their posts for this and other peccadilloes while I am at it. Sources also must be cited and an accurate web URLprovided if this an internet source rather than a publication.I do, however have recommendations that increase the readability of posts.
I try to topically index my posts so as to be able to find my posts in Google or site search engines at a future date.
I capitalize subject headings and the first letter of each word in post titles or headings, it attracts eye attention and looks better to my eye.I put spaces (one or two depending on mood) between paragraphs as the postis easier to read as the parts stand out.
In my own posts, I always put the title of the article at the top of the "citation".
The article is not about the URL, it is about the citation.I also repeat the heading at the top of the post above and spaced from the citation as some email services and Yahoo Groups cut off text in the heading after so many characters.
In reposts I avoid brackets (<) down the left side, getting rid of theseby going to:
Draacs.com The Stripper
http://www.draac.com/stripper.html
Then I usually manually left justify the text so that it is not broken upon the left side of the page border.
On very wide messages, I cut the size of lines in the Yahoo posting box.
Signature Lines
I do not require these, but they are so valuable that one should treat themselves to their use. Readers start to tie you to the posts youprovide and start to think of you as an expert in the fields you post about.
Be proud of the posts that you take the effort to send and let Net-Gold readers and Google finders of your posts know who your are and in particular what websites you created in your signature lines, I do not limit their size, although a page in length would be a bit much.
I also change signature lines when needed to reflect changes that have occurred in their validity. All of the above is not to provide rules, they do not exist, except for copyright adherence, but rather to make your posts do the most for you.
Sincerely,
David Dillard
